OpenAccess policies
Telehealth Consent
What to expect from online sessions, and what you agree to when you book one.
1. What telehealth means
Telehealth means receiving care from your Provider by video, voice or secure messaging instead of in person. By booking a session, you consent to receive care this way.
2. Benefits and limits
- You can get care from home, in private, and with less travel.
- Your Provider cannot examine you physically, and some conditions need in-person care.
- Poor connections can interrupt sessions. If a session drops, your Provider will try to reconnect.
3. Your part
- Join from a private place where you will not be overheard.
- Give accurate information about your health and history.
- Use a device and connection that can support video or voice.
- Do not record sessions without your Provider’s agreement.
4. How we follow Indian guidelines
Sessions follow the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020 and the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, including your right to confidentiality. Your Provider identifies themselves and their qualifications at the start of care.
5. Confidentiality and its limits
What you share stays between you and your Provider, except where the law requires disclosure or there is a serious risk to your safety or someone else’s. In those cases your Provider may contact emergency services or a person you have named.
6. In an emergency
OpenAccess is not an emergency service.
