Prescription Policy
How psychiatrists on OpenAccess issue e-prescriptions, and what they cannot prescribe online.
Effective 29 September 2026
1. Who can prescribe
Only Providers licensed to prescribe where you are located can prescribe. Counsellors and therapists do not prescribe medicines.
2. What can be prescribed online
- Prescribing follows the laws of the Provider’s and client’s locations.
- Controlled substances are not prescribed through OpenAccess.
- Some medicines need in-person assessment or monitoring first.
3. Using your e-prescription
- Your e-prescription is available in your account.
- It is valid for 30 days unless your prescriber says otherwise.
- Use a licensed pharmacy, follow the dose you were given, and never alter or share a prescription.
- Repeat prescriptions need a follow-up consultation.
